Starting 2010 on a frozen foot

Happy New Year everyone! Hope your holidays were fantastic. I spent mine with my favorite people, and it was among the best holiday seasons I’ve ever had.

After being away from New York for most of December (due to move-ins, weddings, holidays, etc.), I returned to what’s expected to be the coldest winter in 30 years. How lucky I moved to New York just in time to face it head-on (note sarcasm)! I’ll just slip it in my “Of course it would happen to me” file.

I had a snow-filled holiday in Virginia, as a blizzard blanketed most of the Northeastern coast in late December. I believe the D.C.-Northern Virginia area was one of the hardest hit, and tons of people who planned to be at a Richmond wedding that weekend spent it trapped inside their houses. Fortunately I left a few days early and made it south snow-free.

One of my favorite things to do when it snows is to make Lola the Jack Russell videos. She’s so hilarious in the snow, eating it, running through mounds and diving into it headfirst.

My stills didn’t come out so great, because there were too many distractions for Lola. Someone would say something or her sibs would get in the way. Overall I like its simplicity. I actually chose the song (The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun”) solely for its happy effect without thinking of the title and how it doesn’t quite relate to the video.

Let’s just pretend I was trying to be ironic. Or cruel. Whichever you prefer.
